Alexander Svyatov painting a Ferro Concrete statue of Stalin in preparation for the celebration of Victory Day, the defeat of Nazi Germany, May 9th 1945. Alexander claims to have dug up the monument that had been hidden after official condemnation of Stalin's personality cult. There is an ongoing struggle between those who want to rehabilitate Stalin and those who consider him a murderous dictator. The former, emphasise his role in the industrialisation of Russia and the defeat of Nazi Germany. While the latter, point to the secret pact he signed with Hitler and that he was responsible for the deaths of millions of Soviets in labour camps and through purges.
